Shelley began her career with Imperial in 1985 in Sarnia, Ontario where she worked primarily at the downstream research and automotive research centre. During this time Shelley was spent many years developing, implementing and assessing several key and fundamental management systems for the company– OIMS, CIMS, ISO 9000 and QS9000.
In 2000, Shelley joined Imperial’s information technology group in Toronto, Ontario where she supported a number of ecommerce initiatives and the launch of Imperial’s first internet and intranet sites.
Transferring to the Public Affairs group in 2002 Shelley became part of Imperial’s head office relocation project team in 2005, and subsequently took on the role of Community Investment and Community Relations Advisor. Building upon that role Shelley took on the role of Imperial’s Socioeconomic Manager for the Athabasca Region in 2013.
Shelley sat on the City of Calgary’s Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee in 2018-2019, and has previously held various Board and volunteer positions with her community and homeowner’s association; school advisory committees, and numerous youth athletic groups and teams. In 2013, Shelley was presented with “Hero of the Flood” award from Premier Redford and Mayor Nenshi. She received a commendation from Fort McKay First Nation for her support during the Horse River wildfire which ravaged the Fort McMurray area in 2016.
